Carrot Powers Elevance Health Foundation’s $5 Million Patient Safety Prize

Carrot has partnered with Elevance Health Foundation to launch the $5 million Patient Safety Prize, a national competition seeking community-informed solutions that reduce preventable harm and improve patient safety.

Carrot is proud to announce the launch of the Elevance Health Foundation’s $5 million Patient Safety Prize, a nationwide initiative designed to accelerate community-informed solutions that improve patient safety across the United States.

The Patient Safety Prize, part of Elevance Health Foundation’s new Community Action and Leadership Initiative, seeks bold, ready-to-implement concepts that can reduce preventable harm and improve outcomes for patients and families. With up to $1 million available for as many as five organizations, the Foundation aims to surface innovative models that can be adopted, scaled, and sustained within communities facing the greatest challenges in patient safety.

Carrot is powering the initiative through the Carrot Platform, providing a transparent and user-friendly environment for participants, reviewers, and program administrators. From application intake to scoring and selection, Carrot’s competition infrastructure ensures a rigorous and equitable process that helps the strongest ideas rise to the top.

Jaison Morgan, CEO of Carrot, said:
"Elevance Health Foundation is taking an important, community-first approach to patient safety. We are honored to support a competition that elevates lived experience, public health expertise, and innovative thinking to reduce preventable harm. When organizations collaborate with the communities most affected, meaningful transformation becomes possible."

The Patient Safety Prize calls for solutions that meaningfully address preventable harm, particularly among historically underserved populations. Eligible approaches may include community-led models, technology-enabled interventions, systems redesign, research translation, or other strategies that improve measurable safety outcomes.
